Jacqui Cook and Helping Hands came to work with us warmly recommended by Debs Metson of Sotheby’s Wellington. We were dealing with a bereavement and a tight timeframe to sell a unique home, a beloved haven of 25 years that showed signs of age and wear.
From the start Jacqui brought fresh eyes, valuable insights into potential buyers’ perspectives, and a keen understanding of exactly what we needed. We soon came to appreciate the meticulous attention to every detail that she and her dedicated team brought, and remain in awe of their ability to pivot to address a fresh challenge and bring in new skills. She remained cheerful, unflappable, utterly surefooted, and a delight to work with through the twists and turns of code compliance, bodies corporate, unforeseen circumstances, and unprecedented weather events. We were amazed and delighted at the results – which were a key factor in turning a potential buyer’s ‘maybe’ into a ‘yes’ for us.

I have retained Helping Hands on three major house improvement projects in the past three years – once for a bathroom renovation project and twice to get houses ready for sale. One of these houses required a major overhaul including new kitchen, bathroom and carpeting, knocking out walls, replacing windows and roof, landscaping and interior and exterior painting and decorating. As I live in Auckland I was unable to be present as these projects progressed so was very reliant on Jacques management.
Jacqui has at all times been excellent in her project planning and reporting, management of tradespeople, passing on of trade discounts, advising of materials and decorating options, provision of quotes and estimates and the management of any variations to plan. Jacqui has a network of very capable and reliable tradespeople and takes a lot of pride in the outcome of their, and her work. On occasion she would personally take on the cleaning of the houses to ensure the quality of finish she required.
I have no hesitation in recommending Jacqui for similar projects and am happy to talk to anyone considering utilising her services.

When I purchased my unit, I retained the services of Jacqui Cook to manage a complete interior renovation. The project included a full refurbishment of the kitchen, bathroom and the rest of the interior.
My original intention was simply to have Jacqui coordinate the tradespeople and oversee the project on my behalf. However, it very quickly became apparent that her exceptional eye for design, creativity and attention to detail were going to transform the renovation into something far beyond anything I had imagined possible.
Jacqui has an incredible ability to visualise a space and bring together colours, materials, fixtures and finishes that complement each other perfectly. Time and again she suggested ideas and design elements that I would never have considered, yet they became some of my favourite features of the finished home.
Throughout the project, Jacqui was professional, organised and an excellent communicator. She coordinated the various trades seamlessly, kept me informed at every stage, and ensured that the work was completed to an exceptionally high standard. What could have been a stressful experience became an enjoyable and exciting journey because I had complete confidence that everything was in capable hands.
The finished renovation exceeded every expectation I had. Friends and family regularly comment on how beautiful the unit is, and I know that the result is a direct reflection of Jacqui's creativity, experience and commitment to excellence.
I would not hesitate to recommend Jacqui Cook to anyone looking for someone who combines outstanding project management with an exceptional talent for interior design. Her passion, professionalism and genuine care for achieving the best possible outcome make her an absolute pleasure to work with.
